South Island Adventures Day 4: Wanaka

We had a nice day of hikes today. Woke up to a cold clear moring and started the day with a hike up Iron Mountain for a great view over Wanaka and the surrounding area. Drew slept on the way up and got out to play at the top.

After a bit of a rest at home over lunch we then headed out west of Wanaka to lake Diamond. This was an hour or so walk. Starting by going up to the lake and then further up the mountain for a great look out over the lake and mountains.

It then went a little further around the mountain for another view of lake Wanaka. Quite a few people at this one but a really great little hike. We’re not sick of mountains yet.
After our hike we went back to Wanaka and spent an hour siting on the sand at the lake edge, eating dinner and enjoying the view. We were surprised at how long Drew spent sitting playing with the sand and stones, I think he needs a bucket and spade soon!
