South Island Adventures Day 10: Tutaki to Marahau

After a good night sleep with barely any sand flies eating us, we headed east for a quick look at Lake Rotoroa and then Lake Rotoiti, where we did a loop walk through thick forest up and down a hill. There was some root hopping involved but we really enjoyed the hike in the predator-free zone.


From here we headed North to Marahau, which is at the southern end of the Abel Tasman National Park, where we had planned a day-hike for the next day. The AirBnB we had booked for the next two nights was quite spectacularly located, on top of the hill overlooking the Sandy Bay Inlet. This is the view from the balcony in the evening. Apparently, they don't get sick of sunsets...
