Time for a Christmas road trip!
We left Auckland on the Monday morning (unfortunately without Aly...) and drove up to Ngunguru where we met Mum and Dad at our holiday house the "Peacock lodge"
It was a really well appointed place with lots of space and a farm out the back with pigs, every type of duck you can imagine and ofcourse peacocks. The owners had even set up a beautiful christmas tree for us!
Then we had a lovely christmas lunch that had a selection of the regular salads, some cold meat, lovely wine and of course a trifle

There were lots of interesting things to do near by, on the first day we went for a little waterfall walk and then visited the harbor at Whangarei.
We also did the Tutukaka heads walk up to the lighthouse, which gave an absolutely beautiful view of the surrounding bays, islands, farm land and bush.
And then it was christmas day! (we actually celebrated this on the 23rd, because thats when we had a full day to have a proper christmas day)
First thing we unwrapped presents, Drew especially liked the free University of Auckland promotional puzzles from his stocking because they were very loud and his new car/walker
Then it was off to the beach! The advantage of doing all this before the 25th was that we didnt have to share the beach with many people (and we missed all of the nasty traffic jams)
Drew liked sitting on the sand and banging shells together, but wasnt such a fan of the water, in his defense it was pretty cold!
